This study aims to examine the key elements of advertising as well as the rinciple elements and concepts that constitute the field of advertising as a key sub-area of marketing.
Upon completion of this study the student will have gained knowledge and learned about the role of advertising and promotion
in the marketing process, promotion program situation analysis, analyzing the communications process, establishing objectives
and budgeting for the promotional program, and developing the integrated marketing communications program.
In this study the student will examine the manner in which the American judicial system works. The course will
explore the complexities and the pivotal role the judicial system plays within the American Jurisprudence.
Its history will also be delved into.
This study will explore microeconomic and macroeconomic compensation concepts, such as the reward system, strategic
and tactical compensation, legislation and compensation, job evaluation, benefits and services, and related topics.
The overall purpose and learning objective of this study is to familiarize the student with the essentials of business and
professional and how they impact and effect within the business and organizational environment at all levels.
Upon completing this study the student will have learned about the theoretical and practical applications of law in the
organizational setting, as well as the major issues and principles pertaining to ethics including corporate social responsibility,
the social contract, changing values toward social responsibility, the business-government interface, a model of ethics, business ethics, and the social audit.
The overall purpose and learning objective of this study is to familiarize the student with the essentials of business law and the
various sub-areas of law that affect and impact the business environment at the domestic and international levels.
Upon completing this study the student will have learned about the theoretical and practical applications of business law. Other
major areas of law that will be studies include the legal system as a whole, criminal, administrative, contracts, and torts law,
business ethics and social responsibility.
The overall learning objective of this study is to build on the legal concepts and principles covered in business law and the
legal environment I (or equivalent).
Upon completing this study the student will have learned about the theoretical and practical applications of advanced business
law and the legal environment including advanced analysis of legal aspects of business and consumer transactions, commercial paper
and banking, mortgages and bankruptcy, agency law, partnership and corporate law, and international business transactions.
The major areas addressed in this course will be the general management perspective and business policy,
developing the appropriate strategy, industry and competitive analysis, personal values vs. corporate strategy,
social responsibility, transforming the organization and the keys to building a successful management career.
This study will explore the role of combat sports as one of the oldest, if not the oldest, form of entertainment.
The evolution of combat sports from the earliest stages of recorded history, namely starting with the Egyptians of
antiquity through the ancient Greeks (the founders of the original Olympics), the Romans and progressing up to the modern age,
will be surveyed and analyzed in terms of its societal, economic, religious, etc. impact and of course its entertainment value.
The role of men and women in sports as entertainment be it in antiquity, modern times and across cultures and civilizations will be examined.
The study will seek to compare and contrast our criminal justice system with other systems in the industrialized world,
primarily European criminal justice systems. Students will be assigned a series of readings related to this subject
matter and research papers are expected to be prepared and remitted. Students will analyze the major legal systems and
evaluate their major pros as well as shortcomings.
The aim of this course is to familiarize the students with the essentials of constitutional law through an overview of the
document and its application via analysis and study of case law.
Upon completing this study the student will have learned about the theoretical and practical applications of constitutional
law including the major topics/areas covered are the history of constitutional interpretation, the Bill of Rights and its
evolution in the judiciary over the last two centuries, and the historical and contemporary constitutional issues, which
directly affect the day to day interactions in American society.
The aim of this course is to familiarize students with the major concepts and principles of contract law.
Upon completion of this study the student will have learned about the theoretical and practical applications
of contract law, the history and foundations of contract law, common law roots of contract law, the Restatement of Laws,
the UCCC (Uniform Commercial Code) and their application and role in modern American contract law, and litigation aspects
particular to Contract law.
The aim of this course is to familiarize students with the major concepts and principles of criminal law.
Upon completion of this study the student will have learned about the theoretical and practical applications
of criminal law, the criminal justice system, crime and justice and the rule of law, policing, courts and adjudication,
as well as pretrial procedures, the criminal trial, punishment, sentencing, and incarceration.
This course will examine and explore a number of current economic trends and issues that bear on the American economic system,
society and the individual. Topics such as downsizing, unemployment, women in business, and management; the relationship between
the United States, Europe and the developing world will be covered. GATT, NAFTA and free trade (now that they've been in place
for some time), the role of the military, international business and geopolitical strategies as well as the Federal Reserve Bank,
the Federal Trade Commission, and other topics and related are of economic concern will also be analyzed.
The aim of this study is to introduce the students to the principles of entertainment law and its applications via
the case law and analysis methodology/approach.
Upon completion of this study students will have gained knowledge about the various aspects of entertainment law
including royalties, copyright law, management contracts, recording contracts, international rights and law covering
intellectual and/or music and/or films and video products, as well as related issues.
The goal of this study is to make students cognizant of the challenges and opportunities offered in the
entrepreneurial field. The foundations, principles and concepts affiliated with entrepreneurship will be
examined contrasting the theoretical and practical implementation.
Upon completion of this study, students will have gained knowledge of the benefits and pitfalls of managing
and/or starting a small business. The entrepreneurial historical perspective, how to start, develop and
operate a new venture as well as the legal issues facing the entrepreneur will be examined.
The aim of this study is to introduce students to the principles of family law and its applications via
the case law and analysis methodology/approach.
Upon completion of this study students will have gained knowledge of the various aspects of family law including
the full range of related legal issues such as marital assets and property, domestic violence, child support,
and juvenile crime, and dissolution of marriage.
The aim of this study is to introduce students to the essential elements of Finance and see its application in a real world setting.
Upon completing this study the student will learn about the fundamental concepts in financial management,
financial statements and forecasting, strategic long term investment decisions and financing decision, and working capital management.
The major topics covered in this course include the basics and essentials of franchising, marketing and promoting a new franchise,
the legal aspects of franchising from the franchisor's perspective, financing issues, and operating a franchise.
The purpose of this course is to acquaint students with the role of free markets, entrepreneurship as the keystones and foundation
of capitalism, which constitute the essence of the American economic system.
Upon completing this study students will have gained knowledge of the theoretical and practical applications of the free market
economic system, the role of entrepreneurship as a foundational element of free market economics, and the impact of the regulatory
structure on free markets and entrepreneurship. Furthermore the difference between early industrial revolution capitalism and current
regulated free market capitalism, American free market capitalism and its impact on the nation's growth, the emergence of international
free markets and capitalism and its interaction with U.S. markets will also be examined.
This course will explore the role of men and women in contemporary times and its evolution since antiquity.
The economic, financial, and societal impact on today's American society as well as on societies and civilizations
across the world, currently and throughout history will be explored.
Special emphasis will be placed on the role of women, particularly in contemporary times when they are increasingly
engaged as participants/athletes, officials, managers, administrators, entrepreneurs and at all levels and facets of
the sports and entertainment industry. Furthermore today's involvement of females in so-called traditionally male
dominated sports will be explored. Lastly the historical role of women versus that of men from ancient Greece,
Imperial Rome, Medieval Europe, Asian societies, etc. will be studied.
The impact, currently and historically, of sports and entertainment as shaper and reflector of social norms and wants
and on the individual and even by gender will be studied. To that end the financial ramifications of the modern era
sports and entertainment industries in the United States and internationally will be surveyed. Finally Title IX and
its importance on the evolution and progress of American female athletes will be examined.
The aim of this course is to provide students a comprehensive introduction to all major issues pertinent to what
is termed Health Care Law and Ethics.
The subject matter addressed includes contractual aspects of the doctor-patient relationship, i.e. duty to treat,
termination of leadership and related topics, the legal nature of the healthcare organizations, ERISA preemption,
medical malpractice and informed consent, anti-trust; and ethical considerations.
In this course students will explore the historical and political environment, which gave birth to the American Constitution.
The American Revolution provided the foundation upon which the U.S. Constitution was anchored and permitted to initiate this
innovative approach to government. The evolution of this document will be traced, with particular focus on the major U.S.
Supreme Court decisions based on their interpretation of the Constitution, which have shaped the nation and been at the heart
of the American political discourse. In addition the framers, their inspiration and motivation will be analyzed with emphasis
placed on the juxtaposition between idealism and pragmatism.
The aim of this course is to explore the rich history of American industrial and commercial development,
the evolutionary stages and its main personages, all of which led to the creation of the most successful modern industrialized nation.
Upon completion of this study students will have gained a sound grasp of the role of the entrepreneur in
the evolution and development of U.S. business, and the stages and evolution of American capitalism.
In addition the Evolution of business and the age of the Merchant, The Age of Transition, and the Age
of Managerial Capitalism, as well as the current state of American business and future potential
directions for American business and commerce will be examined.
In this course students through a series of readings will cover a broad array of subject areas including
human resources management and environment, analysis, planning, and compensation; training and development
for better performance, labor relations and issues of employee health and safety.
The aim of this course is to introduce the students to the principles of immigration law and its
applications via the case law and analysis methodology/approach.
Upon completion of this course students will have gained knowledge of the qualifications and requirements
for gaining admission to the United States, the application process for obtaining entry into the U.S.,
types of visas, obtaining a Green Card and permanent resident status, requirements for becoming a
Naturalized citizen, Refugee status, and related immigration issues.
The topics covered in this course include introduction and measurement, output, interest rates, policy,
and the open economy, aggregate demand and alternative theories of aggregate supply, inflation and unemployment,
macroeconomics in the long run growth, public debt, the foreign debt, timing business cycles, stabilization policy,
and sources of instability in the private economy.
The purpose of this course is to familiarize students with the various aspects of international business and management and their application in the global arena.
Furthermore students will also be exposed to the latest and multifaceted developments in this fast evolving field.
Upon completion of this study students will have gained knowledge of the nature of international business, the international
environment as it pertains to organizations and the monetary system, the foreign environment relating to socio-cultural,
legal, and political forces, the impact on business of east-west relations, and labor relations policies and the multinational management arena.
The purpose of this course is to familiarize students with the various aspects of international business and management and their application in the global arena.

In this course students will explore the various aspects of International Finance and Global Financial
Management including exchange rates, corporate debt financing, exposure to foreign exchange risk, global
capital budgeting and forecasting, international investment and capital flows, import/exporting financing, and International money markets.
The purpose of this course is to introduce students to the field of international law and its impact on international relations,
the flow of international commerce and all related aspects of law as a primary tool of international exchanges between nation-states, their organizations and citizens.
Upon completion of this course students will have gained knowledge of the essence of international law, the role of states in international law,
international organizations and corporations, international jurisdiction, range of sovereignty, treaties and their implications, and human rights.
In addition the military and its role in international affairs, international environment and economic relations, the role of the United Nations,
as well as other related issues will be explored within the context of developing international circumstances and the contemporary and historical
place that international law occupies.
The major topics covered in this course will encompass the scope and challenge of global marketing,
the global business environment, the cultural environment of global marketing, global marketing management
and related issues and concerns.
The major areas covered in this course include domestic and international political economy, free trade and
protectionism, balance of payments, monetary and fiscal policy and exchange notes, the origins of the world economy,
cooperation among advanced industrial states as well as competition and conflict among them, Eastern Europe and the
former Soviet Union, foreign aid and the third world debt, the multinational corporation evolving in the third world
nations, as well as related issues and topics.
This course will focus on the role and scope of investments, investment markets and transactions, measuring risk and
return on investment, analysis of common and preferred stock, stock and bond valuation, convertible securities related
investment decisions. In addition options, commodities, financial futures and tangible investments, as well as mutual
funds real estate and tax shelters will also be examined.
This course will encompass an exploration of various financial investments valuation techniques,
optimization of risk-return, trade-offs, approaches and strategies necessary to attain investment
goals within the context of an investment portfolio.
This course's aim is to introduce students to the U.S. Constitution's First Amendment and its reach
particularly as it applies to one of the sub-areas that it addresses, namely freedom of the press.
This will be done via case law and related analysis from its historical origins on through its current state.

The history and evolution of legal thought will be surveyed and examined.
Upon completion of this study students will have learned about the history of legal thought, and its
evolution to its present state, law, its nature and the validity of law, the concept of liberty, justice
and its meaning, responsibility and punishment.
This course will encompass the purpose of unions, the evolution of American labor, labor law & federal agencies,
contract negotiations and administration, employee/employer relations in union and non-union organizations.
The aim of this course is to introduce the students to the principles of law and society and its
applications via the case law and analysis methodology/approach.
Upon completion of this study students will have gained knowledge of the impact of law on society,
how law impacts American society at all levels, how public policy is translated into laws, examining
the results of law on society, the evolution of law, and Constitutional Law and its direct impact on the citizen.
This study will explore the major issues, concepts and principles related to the Law of Evidence.
The essential topics that will be covered include: examination of witnesses and trial procedures;
circumstantial evidence; the best evidence rule; Hearsay rules, privileged communications;
self-serving declaration; real evidence; presumption, etc.
In this course students will learn about the leadership process, the power, influence, behavior,
values and creativity, and other aspects of evaluating and assessing leadership, and the right leadership style for the right situation.
In this study students will learn about the relationships among the fire service, politics and law.
In addition students will study the legal basis of the police power of government as it relates to public safety,
legal limitations and responsibility, and liability of fire service organizations and personnel. Integrate an awareness
and knowledge of political and legal concepts with fire service management practice, including a review of the judicial
system. Furthermore the course examines civil and criminal law, progenitor laws, individual and department liability,
personnel procedures and requirements, product liability, political actions and member rights, fire prevention and
building codes, legal procedures and legislation related to topics such as worker's compensation and landlord responsibilities.
The aim of this course is to examine the key elements of management and their application in the practical and real world context.
Upon completion of this course students will have gained a sound and comprehensive grasp of the managerial environment, the primary
functions of the manager, namely planning, organizing, and controlling as well as learning and motivating individuals and groups.
In addition students will also learn about managing production and operations.
This course is an overview of the law of labor-management relations and it will include an examination of union organizing,
collective bargaining, enforcement of rights under collective bargaining, union economic pressure, for example strikes,
picketing and boycotts. In addition this study will also explore regulating the nature of labor-management relations,
federal preemption of state labor laws, as well as international and extraterritorial dynamics and their accompanying legal ramifications.
The aim of this independent course is to familiarize students with the various aspects of the marketing in the entertainment industry.
This will be done through and analysis of the industry based on various perspectives. This is often known as a "niche market" within the marketing field.
Upon completion of this study students will have learned about the challenges faced by professionals marketing entertainment products,
principally focusing on the film industry and related fields.
Also a broad array of subjects pertinent to the field including an examination of legal, business and artistic issues will be covered
along with the film industry component. In particular the course will encompass the full process involved in marketing a new film project,
namely from developing the marketing and promotional concept, refining the strategy, and selecting the venues through which to apply said marketing strategy.
The major topics covered in this course will include marketing research environments, secondary information,
the major access tools, on-line data sources and other syndicated sources of purchase behavior and media exposure
information, qualitative interviewing and research methods, survey interviewing methods, experimental research methods,
sampling theory and practices, measurement, scaling and questionable design, data analysis, presenting the research and ethical issues.
The aim of this course is to familiarize students with media law and the role of ethics within the field.
Upon completion of this course students will have learned about the major issues, concepts and principles related to the media law,
the essential aspects of ethics within the media legal framework, and all related aspects that affect and impact on media law and ethics.
This course's objective is to familiarize students with the role of money and banking within the broader economic structure.
The expectation is that students will gain a grasp of the implications of money and banking at the domestic and global level.
Additionally students will learn about currency fluctuations, the role of the Federal Reserve Board, the World Bank, the IMF,
and other related institutions, entitled, current economic and political events that have a direct or indirect impact on currencies and financial markets.
The aim of this course is to familiarize students with the essentials of the laws and regulations related to "Negotiable Instruments".
Upon completing this course students will have learned about the theoretical and practical applications of negotiable instruments law
including the major topics/areas covered are the history of negotiable instruments, its evolution, the judiciary interpretation of negotiable
instruments litigation based on the parameters of the U.S. Constitution over the last two centuries, and the contemporary applications and
salient issues pertaining to negotiable instruments and their affect and impact on the day to day interactions and transactions in American society.
This course's objective is to introduce students to the organizational behavior environment and the key concepts and practices that optimize organizational structure.
Upon completing this course students will have learned about the theoretical and practical applications of organizational behavior and how said principles and concepts
are implemented in the world setting, be it in the private or public organizational sector.
The major areas of organizational behavior covered include managing organizational behavior and a diverse workforce, ethics and motivational techniques, managing individual
and group behavior, and social processes, managing organizational processes, problems, and evolving organizations, will be examined.
In this course students will explore the various aspects of arts administration including the legalities and regulations associated therewith,
the process of effectively managing personnel and subordinates in the arts field, and related topics.
This course will encompass a broad array of topics and subject matter, including production and operations management,
productivity, competitiveness, strategy, quality management, forecasting, product and service design, process selection
and capacity planning, location planning, quality control, material requirements planning, inventory management; scheduling, and project management.
The aim of this study is to familiarize students with the major concepts and principles of real estate law and practice.
Upon completion of this study students will have learned about real estate law and real property law, the business perspective,
the economic and the financial perspective, as well as laws and regulations that apply to real estate productivity, brokerage, management, development and investment.
This course will focus on the various aspects of retailing including structural dynamics and strategic planning, environmental factors affecting retail strategy development,
selecting markets in which to compete, resources needed to compete, the retailing marketing plan, and other opportunities such as franchising and electronic commerce/retailing.
This course will encompass a full spectrum of topics and subject matter including promotional Strategy, the decision-making framework,
the nature of communications, consumer response to persuasive communication, understanding the consumer, influence of the social environment,
market segmentation and competitive positioning, determination of promotional objectives, promotional appropriation organization and use of
human resources, adaption to the legal climate, as well as advertising, sales promotion and media strategy.
This course's aim is to engage students in an exploration of the challenges and issues that face small business in the current and foreseeable environment.
In addition the foundational concepts pertaining to small business management and the field of small business will be examined. Lastly the subject matter
will also be examined from the historical perspective.
Upon completion of this study students will have learned about the benefits and pitfalls of managing a small business, how to manage a new venture, day-to-day
operations, the legal issues facing a small business, strategy and competitive advantage, matching strategy to the situation, and techniques for analyzing and implementing strategy.
The purpose of this course is to explore the role of the sports and athletics as one of, if not, the oldest forms of entertainment.
From the early days of human evolution, athletics have been at the heart of human activity and reflected the mores and values of those
respective societies. One of its earliest forms of athletic events revolved around combat sports, and the history and implication of this will be examined and analyzed.
Upon completion of this study students will have learned about the many purposes of athletics, among them being to entertain, impress
and please the masses. Athletes were the original entertainers and idols from the dawn of time, prior to and up to the evolution of
organized spectacles such as the ancient Greek Olympics and festivals, and the spectacular games featured during the era of the Roman
Empire featured in massive venues such as the Roman colosseum and other amphitheaters around the empire. Athletics also preceded all other forms of entertainment.
Students will also examine the impact that the athlete and early sports had on the development of the participants, the societies
in which they evolved, and the contributions they heaved upon the multitude of generations that followed. The respective role of
females and males in this realm will also have been focused upon. Particular emphasis being placed on non-team sports and athletics
and the legacy that has been felt through the ages up to the present date.
The aim of this course is to immerse students in critical thinking and problem solving within the parameters of an organization utilizing,
examining and interpreting all available sources of information and data to devise a strategic course of action to be followed by the organization.
Upon completion of this study the student will have learned about the strategic management process, the three strategy-making tasks, industry
and competitive and analysis, company situation analysis, strategy and competitive advantage, matching strategy to the situation, corporate
diversification strategies, and techniques for analyzing diversified companies and implementing strategy.
This major topics that this course will cover include the role of the supervisor in today's corporate environment,
creative decision-making, communications with subordinates, ethics and organization, politics, time management,
planning and delegating, appraising employee performance, unions, leading, discipline, grievance and handling.
The major topics covered in this course include introduction to economics, supply and Demand, markets and the price system, product markets,
macroeconomic analysis, government as a regulator in markets and as a provider of services, macroeconomic analysis, and introduction to international economics.
This course will explore the economic, financial, and societal impact on American society as well as on societies
and civilizations across the world, currently and throughout history.
Students will focus on the role of entertainment and sports in contemporary society. Also examined will be the impact
of these fields as an industry on the individual and society. To that end the financial ramifications of these interrelated
industries not only on American society but as a major export product, will be explored. Furthermore the historical origins
and evolution (from the days of ancient Greece, Rome, Medieval Europe, Asian societies, etc.) of entertainment and athletics
as tools of the powerful and those in leadership positions to satiate, control and appease the masses will be analyzed.
In addition this course will also explore the role of women in the sports and entertainment arena in contemporary times
and historically. Finally the study will survey the legal aspects that regulate and attract the entertainment and sports field.
Students will focus on the role of entertainment and sports in contemporary society. The impact of industry on individuals as well as
the financial ramifications of these interrelated industries--not only on American society but as a major export product-will be examined.
In addition the historical origins and evolution (from the days of ancient Greece, Rome, Medieval Europe, Asian societies, etc.) of
entertainment and athletics as tools of the powerful to satiate, control and appease the masses will be studied. Furthermore the course
will also explore the role of women in the sports and entertainment arena in contemporary times and historically. Finally the course will
also look at the legal aspects that regulate and impact the entertainment and sports field.
The aim of this course, which is a Metropolitan center residency/seminar, is to familiarize students with the various aspects of the industry.
This will be done through an analysis of the industry based on myriad of perspectives including and encompassing the legal, business, professional,
artist/performer and related practitioners in the field.
Upon completion of this residency/seminar students will have learned about the challenges faced by artists and practitioners/professionals affiliated
with the industry, be they involved in artist management, production, and/or any support capacity.
Additionally a broad array of subjects pertinent to the field including an examination of legal, business and artistic issues, will be covered.
The music industry component for example, will encompass the full process involved in a musical project, namely from song selection, production
[i.e. how to choose the right studio, production costs, finding the right musicians, etc.], and marketing and distribution [i.e. using the internet,
traditional versus new venues for distribution].
The goal of this course is to have students gain both foundational and advanced knowledge of the music business and how it operates at the micro
and macro levels as well as music as an entrepreneurial venture by many of those involved in the business be it as a musicians, producers, managers, promoters, etc.
Upon completion of this course students will have learned about the various aspects of the music industry from the legal, functional, and artist's perspective.
Furthermore students will explore the process involved in developing a career in the music industry, the business behind the music and the case law that
constitutes its legal parameters.
Students will also learn about the emerging trend, namely musicians increasingly operating as entrepreneurs as newly available technological and other
tools become ever more essential elements to the music business entrepreneur in order to effectively run and operate a music related venture.

In the last ten plus years, the internet has been transforming the music industry. Though this transformation is far from complete, we are already seeing great advantages
for consumers both in terms of price drops, greater variety, and ease of fruition.
The music industry, on the other hand, has been resistant to these changes. By opposing any innovation in the courts, and then by being slow in embracing the technological
advances, the industry shows that it is slow to adapt.
In this study the student will analyze the events that led up to and brought about this revolution, the technical innovations that made it possible, and how the music
industry is responding to it. The student will analyze the major players involved including Napster, I-tune, and Rhapsody, and explore what these changes have meant,
mean and will mean for artists, labels, and consumers.
