This study aims to examine the key elements of advertising as well as the rinciple elements and concepts that constitute the field of advertising as a key sub-area of marketing.

Upon completion of this study the student will have gained knowledge and learned about the role of advertising and promotion in the marketing process, promotion program situation analysis, analyzing the communications process, establishing objectives and budgeting for the promotional program, and developing the integrated marketing communications program. The major topics covered in this course will include marketing research environments, secondary information, the major access tools, on-line data sources and other syndicated sources of purchase behavior and media exposure information, qualitative interviewing and research methods, survey interviewing methods, experimental research methods, sampling theory and practices, measurement, scaling and questionable design, data analysis, presenting the research and ethical issues. This course will focus on the various aspects of retailing including structural dynamics and strategic planning, environmental factors affecting retail strategy development, selecting markets in which to compete, resources needed to compete, the retailing marketing plan, and other opportunities such as franchising and electronic commerce/retailing. Sales and Promotional Strategy

This course will encompass a full spectrum of topics and subject matter including promotional Strategy, the decision-making framework, the nature of communications, consumer response to persuasive communication, understanding the consumer, influence of the social environment, market segmentation and competitive positioning, determination of promotional objectives, promotional appropriation organization and use of human resources, adaption to the legal climate, as well as advertising, sales promotion and media strategy.
